Three senior compliance SMEs sourced for a leading global asset management firm
The client
A leading global asset management firm headquartered in the US with multi-trillion AUM, which operates across diverse regulatory regimes that include FCA, Central Bank of Ireland, and EU frameworks.
The challenge
As the client expanded its European footprint, it needed to secure a Senior Compliance Adviser and two Senior Compliance Specialists. The roles involved a challenging combination of skills, location and experience requirements.
The EMEA-focused SCA role required deep SME capability across regulatory advisory, stakeholder management, and product knowledge, with responsibilities spanning UK, Luxembourg, and Irish funds.
A marketing Senior Compliance Specialist role targeted a narrow, talent-constrained geography due to the location of the UK office.
The most complex hire, a Senior Compliance, Technology & Resilience Specialist, demanded the rare overlap of compliance experience and genuine technology fluency with a forward-thinking approach to AI and risk. For this role, the client had turned to Eames Consulting after an unsuccessful direct search spanning four months.
The solution
The client's strong culture and market reputation made it a compelling destination for passive candidates. Stephanie Coleman, Daniel Billin and Stan Robinson from our Governance, Risk & Compliance team leveraged this through proactive market mapping and targeted outreach across all three roles.
The EMEA-focused SCA role required extending the search beyond our immediate network to identify candidates with the precise depth of multi-jurisdictional regulatory knowledge required.
The geographically constrained marketing compliance role demanded focused regional market mapping capable of surfacing high-calibre talent in a narrow pool.
For the Compliance, Technology & Resilience role, our consultants presented a deliberate range of profiles (compliance-strong with emerging tech exposure, and tech-fluent with compliance transferability).
This strategy enabled the client to prioritise fit and development potential according to transferable skills, given the lower likelihood of a full checklist match.
The result
All three senior compliance roles were filled from the qualified candidates we put forward. The global asset management leader is well-positioned to further expand their European market share while meeting the complexity of multi-regional compliance.
For the marketing compliance role, high client confidence in the candidate accelerated the hiring process from three to two interviews, while an early start in the Senior Compliance Advisor role enabled the candidate to begin fund launch advisory work sooner.
Due to the process spanning holidays and leave periods, the Compliance, Technology and Resilience specialist role took slightly longer, yet the appointment expanded the client’s openness to non-traditional profiles demonstrating strong crossover potential.
This shift will serve the client well as their compliance function continues to scale.
The future
“Our ability to identify and attract top-tier talent across Compliance, Operational Resilience, and Risk played a key role in supporting the client’s expansion across the UK and Ireland. Leveraging our extensive network and consultative approach, we delivered the capability required to scale critical functions while ensuring an outstanding experience for both client and candidate. This partnership exemplifies the value of connecting exceptional talent with industry-leading organisations.”
