Securing an interim CFO for an online healthcare business's market exit

The client

Our client is a UK-registered online pharmacy offering express delivery on prescription treatments via a free online consultation service, ensuring access to safer, more affordable healthcare.

The challenge

The portfolio’s private equity backer, which invested in the business in 2021, was now looking to sell it. However, without the necessary expertise in its finance function to support this complex process, they needed to bring in a CFO with previous exit experience to prepare the business for sale. As the client had been looking to sell for around a year but was forced to hold off, Jay Oldroyd, principal consultant at Eames Consulting, arranged a meeting in Q3 2025 to discuss the potential requirements across the portfolios.

The solution

Jay has an established relationship with the investment director at the private equity fund, who introduced him to the founders so that he could understand what they were looking for, discuss their options and explain the likely interim day rate.

From his wide network of senior finance professionals, Jay introduced the client to a highly experienced interim exit specialist who’s adept at going into a business and preparing them for sale, having led market exits at a variety of businesses over the past five years.

The result

After a recruitment process of less than a month, our candidate accepted the role of CFO with the healthcare business and is due to start imminently, aiming to lead team through a successful exit.

As a result of this placement, Jay has been asked by the fund to work on a further senior role with another of its portfolio businesses in Q4 2025, and we’re excited to continue supporting them in their senior hiring.
