Eames Consulting hires trio of technical accountants for global financial standards-setter

by Chirag Raichura

The client

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation that sets corporate reporting standards for capital markets around the world. Its objective is to develop high-quality, clear, enforceable and globally accepted accounting and sustainability disclosure standards, developed by international accounting and sustainability standards boards.

The challenge

“It is widely recognised that hiring technical accountants is a very challenging task given the niche nature of the skillset required. In my experience, this is even more challenging where the bar in terms of technical knowledge is very high due to the profile of the organisation.Chirag Raichura, Associate Director, Eames Consulting

Due to necessary changes in accounting standards across the industry in 2023, for which they were under resourced, the organisation needed to bring in a team of technical accountants.

Despite advertising the roles on their website for two months, the client was struggling to find candidates with the right technical accounting skills who would be willing to move to London, and so needed to cast the net further across the globe. They reached out directly to Chirag Raichura, associate director for corporate functions at Eames Consulting, who had successfully worked with them since filling a niche role in 2019.

The solution

As advertising had proved ineffective, a more proactive approach was necessary to target passive candidates. Having worked with them for a number of years, Chirag understood the essential technical skills and culture fit required for the organisation.

In mid-September, he conducted a comprehensive global LinkedIn search to identify suitable candidates, targeting Big 4 consultancies, which had been a notable source of talent for the client historically. He then arranged screening calls with accounting professionals who not only had the right skills, but also had the right motivations to move to London, saving the interviewers time by ensuring they were only meeting committed candidates.

Chirag provided a longlist for the client within a week of the brief and a shortlist within two weeks. First round interviews took place over the following fortnight and all interviews were completed within a four-week period.

The result

“Eames Consulting – and specifically Chirag Raichura – are one of the few recruiters I’ve worked with on an ongoing basis to recruit for niche technical accounting roles on behalf of my organisationChirag understands the people profiles we’re looking to hire, and is able to source and to present a range of credible and interested candidates for consideration. When working with Chirag, there is a clear, prompt, professional and reliable information exchange, which makes for a smooth recruitment process, which is very much appreciated and valued.” Head of Talent Acquisition

Three highly skilled candidates accepted technical accounting roles by the end of October, within the agreed six-week timeframe. Their addition enabled the organisation to respond to their external stakeholder needs more effectively, deliver projects on time and crucially, supplement the existing team with the reinforcements they needed to adapt to the new standards.

The future

It is always a pleasure to recruit for such a world-renowned organisation and it also provides me with the opportunity to find suitable candidates their dream role, so I look forward to continuing my relationship with them. Chirag Raichura, Associate Director, Eames Consulting
